Hello,

What is the precaution of changing IP for View Connection server?
Can I just change IP address without removing view connection program?

Do you have a security server or unified access gateway pointing to this specific view connection server for external access?
In case there is anyone asking the same question, this is what I got from VMware Support.
This is an expected behavior due to the way how ios devices handles the application. This is due to iOS system restrictions to the life time of a background app which is 3 minutes, ios devices does not allow all the application to run on the background to make sure applications does not consume the power and resources.
In iOS, only specific app types are allowed to run in the background:
Apps that play audible content to the user while in the background, such as a music player app
Apps that record audio content while in the background
Apps that keep users informed of their location at all times, such as a navigation app
Apps that support Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
Apps that need to download and process new content regularly
Apps that receive regular updates from external accessories
Users can manage the list of apps that needs to run on the background by modifying at - Settings app > General > Background App Refresh to manage the apps that need to run on the background,
If you look at the list of Apps, Horizon View client will not be listed in the Background app refresh list since it does fall under one of the app category as listed above, let us know if this answers your query.
So, no luck on getting applications to stay in the background longer than 3 minutes.
No security server.
We are using VPN appliance for external access. Of course I reconfigure the VPN appliance IP as the same as the connection server new IP.
This was our problem when troubleshooting, thanks Ben. Looks like this product will NOT work with an Airwatch integration. Go figure.
I had a few reports of IE crashing for some users. I've found this appears to be happening for a lot of VM's. The logs show the following error:
Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 11.0.15063.850, time stamp: 0x3173cb3d
Faulting module name: vmwsci.dll, version: 7.2.0.21950, time stamp: 0x5910b368
The faulting module (vmwsci.dll) appears it has to do with the View Agent PCoIP Smart Card Interception. Is that the same thing as the Smarcard Redirection feature? We don't even select this for our View Agent installs. It's happening on various versions of view agent (7.0.3, 7.2). It does appear these errors started to occur right after the July Windows and Office updates.
Do you have an image before the July Windows/Office updates to test with?
What antivirus and I/O filter drivers are you using? We've seen a lot of issues like this where antivirus or a I/O filter driver are the culprit.
I forgot, we did just update Symantec Endpoint Protection earlier this month, which appears to be at version 14.0 RU 1 MP 2.
I'm also seeing a lot of Audit Failures for this file (vmwsci.dll) regarding code Integrity not being valid:
LogName=Security
SourceName=Microsoft Windows security auditing.
EventCode=6281
EventType=0
Type=Information
ComputerName= name of vm
TaskCategory=System Integrity
OpCode=Info
RecordNumber=2227863
Keywords=Audit Failure
Message=Code Integrity determined that the page hashes of an image file are not valid. The file could be improperly signed without page hashes or corrupt due to unauthorized modification. The invalid hashes could indicate a potential disk device error.
File Name: \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Windows\System32\vmwsci.dll
Anyone test the new beta that came out today with 4.8?
Yes, it's still a black screen.
I'd recommend opening a case with Symantec. We had a similar issue with Carbon Black where it was corrupting files. After the team that managed Carbon Black engaged support they were able to resolve it.
Can anyone provide step by step guide for How to upgrade Horizon View 7.3.2 standard to latest release Horizon View 7.5.x Enterprise version ?? What is the prerequisites and sequence need to follow during upgrade? Is there any version upgrade path need to follow during upgradation? which components backups and downtime required? etc.
All Horizon installs are the same and you just need to update your license key to unlock enterprise. You'll want to follow the normal upgrade procedure to get from 7.3.2 to 7.5.0.
Here is the process I follow.

Hi,
Is there any risk enabling View Storage Accelerator in View Configuration/Servers/vCenter Servers in a production environment?
For some reason this is disabled and we would like to have View Storage Accelerator enabled on the vCenter and control Storage Accelerator on Desktop Pool level. We are not using shared storage but local SSD on the hosts.
The Desktop Pools is not configured with Parent VM and Image/Snapshots so it shouldn't be necessary with Recompose for new Replika image on provisioned machines. The pools are configured to provision from Template, Recompose/Refresh is unavailable in this environment.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Kenneth
same set up here, very curious about this. I enabled it on our dev stuff and didn't see any issues.
Well there is your answer.
We stopped using View Storage Accelerator several years ago when we moved an all-flash array (The recommendation from our AFA vendor is to disable it). I'm curious if you really need it but you can enable it after the fact. The VMs will need to be powered off for the virtual disk digest to be created. Be careful enabling this as if a user shuts down their machine it can take some time for the virtual disk digest to be created before the VM can be powered back on (I believe this will happen regardless of if a blackout time is configured). If you are concerned make sure to configure blackout times to limit reclaiming disk space and regenerating the digest files from taking place during peak times (We use space reclamation but don't configure any blackout times as our AFA can handle the load).
Configure View Storage Accelerator for vCenter Server
Configure View Storage Accelerator for View Composer Linked Clones (This covers full virtual machines too)
Set Storage Accelerator and Space Reclamation Blackout Times for View Composer Linked Clones
Thanks BenFB,
Yeah, I´m not sure if Storage Accelerator will do any good, but I would like to do a test on a couple of dev Desktop Pools. Firstly, I need to enable it under View Configuration before I enable it on the dev Desktop Pools. To be be absolutely sure, this single operation does not require any downtime on the VM´s?
Thanks in advance!

Kenneth
Great workaround
Hi there,
I am using View 7.5.1 and Composer 7.5.1 version, I ever found this error message too. I have tried several times to take Backup Now on Inventory > View Configuration > Servers > Connection Servers, that is solved for me. I hopefully work for you too.
Thanks.
