I keep about 4 active snapshots on my View template in case I need to revert back for some reason. For testing purposes I clone my template and make changes to the template and then take a snapshot. This way I can easily go back and just delete the cloned template, and then make the changes to the original View template.
I do occasionally clone the template and rename it for backup purposes in case my main View Template becomes corrupted.
