I just tried the business card scanner on a desktop from the same pool as the end user at the branch office, only I'm on the same LAN as the desktop. I'm having the same issues and I happened to notice something odd. I have the Device Manager open while I put in the calibration card. As soon as the scanner detects the card was inserted, the Device Manager window blinks a couple times as if hardware was removed and then added. I did see that at the first blink, the Imaging Devices tree went away but then came back at the next refresh of the Device Manager. It seems like there is some issue with using a USB scanner on a View desktop but I don't know the exact reason. Since this even happens on a LAN connection to the desktop, I see no point in trying over a WAN link.
