Re: Windows 8.1 built in functions not rendering at all

Well after some working on this for a while I found a couple of issues:

  1. The first problem I had was that I needed to logon as a domain user to activate the METRO APP.   A domain admin person can not activate the APP.  I created my parent image entirely using the domain admin account and never signing in as a user.  once I logged in as a user and then recomposed, the problem with Metro APPS went away sort of.
  2. We are used linked clones in our environment and we recomposed the Windows 7 computers to window 8.1 computers.   The problem I found out is that you can not upgrade linked clones from one operating system to another with persistent disks.  If you need to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 you must deattach the disk.  Add the disk to a new linked clone and copy the data.

There is no clear upgrade path from VMWARE VIEW from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 without a lot of manual effort
