Typically the bottleneck for desktop performance is sending the data to the remote desktop.  With a fast local network and proper configuration, you could get raw frame rate performance that would rival a local machine with the exact same hardware.  However, a local desktop with a "High end GPU" will usually out perform a vDGA config with a K1 board.  As for monitoring GPU resources, GPU-z or Nvidia system monitor should help out here.
