Exactly, you are right. Just install the wildcard certificate on the security server and you're done.There's no need to have any alternative name in the certificate referring to the connection servers....

I guess it would depend on the environment.  I usually do monthly recomposes because of updates.  I do have one small pool that I never recompose (unless I upgrade the View Agent or something like that).

Same as nzorn, I think of recomposing monthly as a best practice based on security updates, but I wouldn't recompose just for the sake of recomposing.  There's no point.
