In Horizon 7 Administrator --> Users and Groups --> Remote Access , add the user that you want to access View from outside your network.

Do you know you're replying to a 9 year old thread?

This is a similar issue that happens every year with various iOS apps and the iOS betas (obviously not the Mac, but the situation is the same). VMware can't update their app to fix the issue because the next OS beta might have a fix for it and chasing bugs/issues on a beta OS is fruitless effort until the gold master is available and the code is finalized. I wouldn't expect any fixes until then (judging on past releases, sometime in September). Would be interesting to see if a new beta version fixes the issue without any changes from VMware. I've seen this on a number of iOS apps, so it's not entirely out of the question.

Finally we end up by enabling "Roam Local Settings Folders" because we need to keep some files in the "appdata\Local" folder. But in the same time this file needs to be excluded from roaming: "AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\UsrClass.dat".

This way we keep the necessary files and Edge and others modern apps works without personalization.

Thanks for helping!

Just to clarify, these fixes were done on the client desktop and not the virtual desktop correct?

Re: View client and dump files - how to disable them?

you may try to create the below registry keys on the client machine and check.

  1. Open Regedit
  2. HKLM\Software|Vmware, Inc.\VMware VDM
  3. REG_SZ entries:
    1. DebugEnabled = False
    2. TraceEnabled = False

Makes sense. Can't blame them. Thanks for the info!

Yes, that's correct, apply the registry key to the client machine and not the virtual desktop.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ThinPrint\TPView]

"EnableLegacyFonts"=dword:00000001

Hi!

I’ve been using PCoIP zero clients for a long time and they always live up to my expectations. So far, I haven’t come across any alternatives that provide a complete desktop experience other than PCoIP zero clients. The 3D graphics and HD media they offer over networks with high latency is unparalleled in terms of performance.

Linux thin clients are definitely worth a try. A friend uses ClearCube’s Raspberry C3Pi thin client that integrates a minimal Cloud Desktop operating system which supports VMware Horizon, Citrix HDX, Microsoft RDP and many virtual desktops. As the OS is Linux-based, his IT department centrally manages and secures the thin client which they then connect to their hosted desktops.

In a nutshell, the Linux hosting environment is efficient, reliable and flexible.

I would also suggest doing some research on other options in the market. You never know what you may come up with.

Feel free to share your views with me. Cheers!

Horizon view VMware help needed.

error: customization operation timed out. Pairing state:In pairing...

error under events: Provisioning error occurred for Machine [machinename]: Customization operation timed out

This does not happen to all VM's in this pool. 6 out of 12 vdi's are having this error and are stucked in customizing mode. We are using view - 6.1.0 with 6.1 agent. If a user logs off, the same machine is provisioned again however, if any machine is deleted manually or by reducing the max number of machines in configuration, the machine gets stucked in customizing mode. Any help on this would be helpful. Thanks

View agent logs of golden image shows this error:

Re: Zero Client for Blast Extreme and Nvidia vGPU

Hello Alex.

Sorry to hear about your experience with PCoIP. Though, I found it to be an interesting protocol because my team got maximum performance out of it in our zero client deployment. We use ClearCube’s CD7014 ZERO+ client which comes with Integrated CAC Reader and support for multiple protocols including PCoIP, Blast Extreme and CITRIX XenDesktop.

In my opinion, PCoIP has the edge over Blast Extreme in certain aspects. PCoIP can manage intensive multimedia and graphics applications while Blast Extreme needs GPUs to deliver the same level of performance as PCoIP.

However, Blast Extreme was essentially designed for mobile devices and networks and it is built on H.264 video coding. So, it is a good option if your staff mostly consists of mobile users because they can leverage it for improved performance. Blast Extreme is also preferable if you have invested in NVIDIA GRID™ Tesla® M cards.

If you would like to go the Blast Extreme route, check out IGEL and 10ZiG’s zero clients.

Open to your thoughts and suggestions!

Hi respodu

Is the problem solved? I met the same problem!

For our standard users it works fine.

We have done a POC with some Igels and 10zigs and have decided to get some 10zigs in for our CAD users as they were clearly more smoother running PCOIP. Once we upgrade to the latest version of View, we can also utilize Blast Extreme.

We do use GRID cards on both our standard and CAD pools.

Horizon 7.5 Persona problem

After upgrading to Horizon View 7.5, we have some intermittent problems loading the roaming profile. If we downgrade to 7.4, this is not an issue.

We are using Windows 10 2016 LTSB on one 32 bit pool and one 6 4bit pool. We have this issue on both pools. Have anyone else had any issues like this?

Hi giorgios25,

The VDM_SERVER property means default server, which can specify one default server. more servers can be recorded in the client UI after connected to them. Thanks.
