Re: Philips SpeechMike III Classic LFH3220
Re: Philips SpeechMike III Classic LFH3220
hi
can you confirm if you have tried getting the device to work when it isn't split?
this KB VMware KB: Troubleshooting connection problems between USB dictation devices and Horizon View desktops details that when the client OS is win8.1 then it cant redirect a split speechmike device.
if it isn't split, could you reproduce the problem and then send me your debug logs from the client machine?
Re: VMware View 5.3 with persona problems
Hi mougT - I shall follow up with a private email, as there are some more steps we'd need you to take to dig into this further,
If / when we find the solution, then we can post back here for others to enjoy.
cheers

View 5.2 graphical artifacts inside of application windows
We recently built a fresh view 5.2 environment and have a handful of users reporting that when they have two windows open, and move one window around, the second window will then appear to show buttons from the first window. it seems like view is drawing window 1, then window 1 gets moved but window 2 doesnt get updated for some reason and still shows window 1. minimizing and maximizing window 2 resolves the issue. i've spent a bit trying to google this but not sure what terms to use so havent found anything like this. has anyone here seen this?
win 7 64bit, with 3D enabled on the VM's. VM's are running Win7 Classic theme (no aero effects) and are set to "Adjust for best performance".
ive attached a screenshot. the black boxes are scrubbed data and not actually present in the original screenshot. otherwise, this is supposed to be a new outlook 2010 email. but the icons towards the center/top of the image (pickup, hold, transfer, etc) are from our call-center software to control the phones.
Re: Philips SpeechMike III Classic LFH3220
Hi Peter, we have seen this link, however if we turn off the Device Split the device is not recognised in Windows 8.1. With the setting for Device SPlit enabled this device is recongised but we get an error "An error occured connecting the USB device to your desktop" A snipet from the error log is:-

Re: Philips SpeechMike III Classic LFH3220
hi
so when you say the device is not recognized then you mean the device doesnt appear in the drop down list?
if so - that will be because the device has a mouse as part of it and it will be being blocked. so to "allow" the device simply add an "Include Vid/Pid" rule for the device. (dont configure the splitting).
now, the device should be available to forward to the guest.
with regard to the log file then that is unfortunatelu the wrong log file. So if the above suggestion doesn't work and we need to look at the logs, then the logs I need are here:
%PROGRAMDATA%\VMware\VDM\logs\debug-xxxx-xx-xx-xxxxxx.txt

Re: View 5.3 and Windows 8.1 domain join fail
Here's an update
I logged into a Windows 8.1 Linked Clone when it was stuck at the domain join stage. I removed it from the domain and within a few seconds, the VM reboots and View Composer/Connection manager successfully joins it to the domain. So I thought, that's odd it seems to get stuck when removing the machine from the domain before adding it. So I created a new snapshot with the VM NOT JOINED to the domain. After a recompose the VM builds and joins to the domain successfully. Even though this goes against all documentation....
I thought, maybe its a vSphere compatibility issue. So I updated vcenter and vpshere to 5.5, then updated the VMware tools on the VM and reinstalled the view agent. Same problem.
For some reason when the master is joined to the domain it fails with "Domain join failedError 2 (0x2): The system cannot find the file specified." However if the master is in a workgroup, all is well.
Has anyone built a linked clone pool with Windows 8.1 yet?
Re: No Scroll Wheel Function in View Administrator 5.1
Did you even get this to work?
I use an add-on called IE Tab2 and have to switch the rendering engine to get the scoll to work in FF.
Live Session Follow User
This seems like a beginner question but I have been searching and have not found the answer. The majority of my pools are floating non-persistent desktop pools. I have one Dedicated pool with 4 machines in it assigned to specific users. If one of the dedicated users are signed into a session on their zero client then goes to different zero client and signs on, their initial session moves to their second location, leaving all of their apps open. But if a user that is assigned a desktop in the non-persistent pool is signed on in one location then signs on at a different location, their first session logs them off immediately and the second location logs into a new desktop out of the pool. Is there a way to have the floating users work like the first scenario? We have some users that work in different offices throughout the day and it would be helpful if their running session could just transfer into another physical location.
Re: Live Session Follow User
That does not sound right, have you allowed for multiple sessions per pool?
Re: Live Session Follow User
No because I don't think I want the user to be logging in twice, in different locations. I want them to be logged in once and if they attempt to log into another location while they're still logged in somewhere else, that first session will transfer to the second location.
Re: Live Session Follow User
I agree, that should not be enabled, just trying to find a reason for this.
What other pool-settings do you have? A screenshot of the config-screen on the pool would be good.
Re: Live Session Follow User
Ok, so what I'm describing should be possible?
Re: Live Session Follow User
It sounds like you have your floating pool configured to logoff immediately on disconnect. If that's set then when the first client is disconnected the logoff process will begin, try setting a short timeout instead so that it's possible to move a session to a new client.
Mike
Re: Live Session Follow User
Yes, according to the screenshot you have "Automatic logoff after disconnect" set to "immediately".
Try setting that to a reasonable time like 15min for the user to be able to connect from another client and keep the session.
Re: VMware View 5.3 with persona problems
Thanks for the various exchange of files. So we took a look, and might see the cause of the problem - it certainly shouldn't crash (and we will be investigating that seperately, but hopefully we can get you up and running with a config change)
We can tell you are configuring Folder Redirection incorrectly, which may be leading to this problem.
When configuring folder redirection in the admin template, the paths need to be given as unc paths. However, you are configuring them as local paths.
For example, for Temporary Internet Files you configured "d:\temporaryInternetFiles\someuser"
It’s fine for the target to be on the local machine; just needs to be a UNC path like \\<local machine>\TemporaryInternetFiles\%username%
can you try changing that and see if the problem persists?
cheers

Re: Live Session Follow User
Thank you so much, that was it. I changed it to log off after 15 minutes and now the session will follow the user to another zero client.
Re: Symantec AV Definitions
According to this Symantec KB the 12.1 version should only keep one instance of the virus definitions. The older versions were set to keep more than one.

Re: View Planner 3.0 help
This is the View forum but honestly I don't think you will get much assistance here unless the VMware employees can assist. This is the result of View Planner being partner only so no one has a lot of experience with it.
Re: VMware View 5.3 with persona problems
I changed the path to "\\%computername%\d$\temp\TempInt" instead, and so far the service has not crashed! Thank you so much !!!
The policy was the same with the 5.2 agent. We experienced no problem with that agent, so I guess this error is unique to 5.3.
