Hi,
I was wondering if there's a way to use view composer for RDS pool.
I was looking similar to Xenapp which can be provisioned using PVS which will make administration easier.

Well, it was a storage area issue of sorts.
There were no issues with the permissions, and we changed from DFS to the direct server path that DFS was pointing to, and still the issue persists.
In the end, we created a new area (with same permissions) on another storage (With DFS) and it's all working fine. Strange. No real answer, but we were moving storage anyway, so we are happy here.
Hi,
I'm aware that if the user profile area for persona manager is set up correctly, it will follow MS Roaming Profile practices.
To circumvent the last point, I wrote a quick VBS script that runs on user login that simply sets another domain group to have full control of the users profile folder. This works well - on login, the folder is created (if not already there) as usual, and the extra permissions are added.
However, when the user logs out... the permissions are removed.
It reverts back to the permissions that were present before my script runs. There is no script to perform this work, it just happens as if it is default behaviour.
I'm not aware of this functionality. Is it part of PM or just MS roaming profile?
Can it be stopped?
We mostly connect from zero clients to our VMs here. Running multiple monitors works fairly well, and I can even do a mixed portrait and landscape setup, but the problem is the monitor positioning.
Is there any way to successfully alter the positioning of the monitors? The zero clients line up the monitors perfectly from edge-to-edge, and don't allow you to raise or lower them. If we try to position it from within Windows, it doesn't stick. I even tried the registry hack to allow display setting changes within Windows on a VM, but that's only to allow the changing of the resolution.
I checked with a View Client from a Windows desktop and it works perfectly. The problem is from a Zero Client... I guess I have to contact Teradici, but if someone has gotten it to work, then please let me know.
Hey,
Actually you just gave me an idea !
I will configure local IP printer (no printer server needed) on my physical computer and than the print job will go from the thin print printer to the local IP printer and than direct to the printer !
One last question:
How can i modify the thin print driver to use by default the maximum compression instead of "optimal" compression ? and also to enable SpeedCache
The default configuration is optimal compression with unchecked SpeedCache
i attached a picture.
Thanks !!!
Did you disable any ciphers or change any encryption settings?
What does the log say?

Not automatically as part of View 6.0, they must be provisioned upfront and added to the environment. This is a feature request that has come up a few times already, but if you'd like to add to the requests you may submit it here : Contact VMware | United States
This is probably something you'll need to follow up with Teradici on. The client sends display topology to the desktop at connection time. This includes number of displays, their ordering, display resolution, and their offset relative to each other. So the settings must somehow be configured on the zero client itself to be sent over.
I actually opened up a ticket with them just after I posted this. I'm afraid they're going to say that "it'll be available in a future firmware update" and God knows when. Thanks!
Thank You. Have submitted the request.
Reprint of Support Insider blog post: PCoIP issues with Horizon View Desktops | VMware Support Insider - VMware Blogs
There are various reasons a user might experience a blank (black) screen when using the PCoIP protocol with Horizon View and our Support Engineers get calls on this every day. These include, but are not limited to:
It is important that the steps outlined in KB article:
Troubleshooting a black screen when logging into a Horizon View virtual desktop using PCoIP (1028332) be followed in the order provided in order to quickly isolate and identify the proper resolution. They are also ordered in the most appropriate sequence to minimize data loss. The KB walks you through a serious of checks, verifying that various requirements are met and that your systems are configured properly. You will see many articles referenced as you work through each step. Do not skip steps. A slow, methodical approach works best here.
If you still see a problem after reading through the body of the KB article, there are also a number of related articles listed in the ‘See Also’ section. If you want to be notified when this article is updated there is an rss link you can subscribe to.
Hi,
Yep we've tried that via GPO and the symptoms persist even with that enabled/disabled.
I agree it's a MS bug but indications are that there's not going to be a patch to address this any time soon, hence wondering if there's anything we can do on the View side to assist
no I havent disabled/changed ciphers/encryption settings

You'll need to look at your network and look for reasons why PCoIP communication from your View Clients to the destination is not working. You can do this by comparing wireshark traces at the client in the working and non working cases. This should allow you to track it down.
This will be the cause of your black screen PCoIP problem.

How does the traffic route from your 10.254.x.x network to the public network? Is it a web proxy or NAT/firewall device? Does it allow PCoIP (TCP 4172 and UDP4172) to be routed?
For the working case from your 172.19.x.x does that also go through a web proxy or NAT/firewall device?
It is likely that in the non working case from your 10.254.x.x that your network is blocking PCoIP (TCP 4172 and/or UDP 4172).
Wireshark should help you track it down.

Did not help, the users are still being disconnected after 7-8 hours of activity...
Sorry, I don't think there's anything we can do here directly - the product will explicitly disconnect the session, and there's no secure way to disable that. One workaround that may be possible - if you're using 6.0 then you can use CommandsToRunOnDisconnect and construct a script to minimize all IE windows. See VMware View 5.0 Documentation Center
Hi guys,
I'm stuck in here and I don't know how to proceed... please help!
So far I have configured main domain + 5 external domains: all domains have a 2-way external trust relationship with the main domain, and everything works.
I'm trying to setup another domain: 2-way trust in place and active, domain added to composer, everything seems to be fine because the domain in the dashbord has a nice green square on the side and tells "This domain has a two-way trust relationship with the connection servers domain." and "Domain status is Normal. No problems detected.".
So... why if I try to add an entitlement to a floating pool, all domains are listes except this one?
I checked on all the connection servers I have using "vdmadmin -N -domains -list -active" and the domain is correctly listed...
Thanks to everyone that can point me to the right direction!
Sara
I think a lot of the advanced options are limited to Cortado's standalone enterprise product, to be honest I'm not that familiar with all the features that aren't included in the simpler VDI-only version we ship. Maybe someone else could chime in here?
