If you are talking about 'rebranding', then yes the latest version of HTML Access supports it. I think you could reach out to your VMW contact.

Re: Hanging Application prevents Win7 64 Bit from Shutdown/Reboot and View Agent already terminated by the OS
Hi,
i have the same problem with view agent 6.0.0 and 6.0.1. after uninstalling view agent the vm shuts down normally. as soon as i reinstall view agent i get the empty "Waiting for Task Host" window.
also waiting for a solution. "autoendtask" doesn't work, neither does "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"

Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
Hi rcmcguir
If you want to move replica disk to another datastore, I think the fastest way should be make a new snapshot and recompose the pool, but only if the users haven't software locally installed (with the recompose process you will lost any changes made to the desktops) and if you have implemented Persona or roaming profiles in the pools.
If you can't recompose because any of he above scenarios, your solution sounds good, but I think that is a process not supported by VMware....
Fortunately, all references to the parent disks are in the desktops configuration files, BUT I would make sure before you do this that the database doesn't contain any reference to the datastore in replica information
Good luck!
Installation of composer fails during service startup
Hi there,
currently I am evaluating a trial copy of Horizon View and also wanted to try out the Composer.
But it fails during the service startup when I try to install Composer.
The error number is "Error 1920" (see screenshot for further details).
In the logfile there is an error line:
2014-10-17 13:08:21,628 | INFO | SimConfig.Operation.OperationHelper - Retrieved empty certificate for port: 18443
What am I doing wrong? I downloaded VMware-viewcomposer-6.0.1-2078421.exe and started it with "Run as administrator" on a Windows Server 2008 R2 VM with installed vCenter Server 5
Using netstat -a | find "LISTENING" shows, that the port is not blocked by an other process.
Re: Installation of composer fails during service startup
Ok, I think I solved my problem.
I switched to the services.msc and changed the user to a domain admin account and then the services started after hitting the "Retry" button.
Is this a normal behaviour?
Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
I'm going to go with JMAlmagro on this one. A simple recompose to a new image would automatically point all the clones over to the new replica created on the centralized single datastore. While the other way may work it is likely not supported and seems cumbersome and could lead to mistakes.
Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
Yes that would be my preferred method as well. Unfortunately these were persistent desktops where users have setup their own software and printers and since the VDI project was/is in the process of having to prove itself, I didn't want the burden to be on the users side.
I didn't go through and do all my persistent linked clones since then. But I can say that to this date, I still saw no signs of issues due to the changes I made. I did not search through any database to find associations beyond just the config files. Since then many of these desktops have been recomposed anyway for major updates.
Thanks for the responses.
Teradici Management Console + VMware View 5 as Connection broker
Hello,
I'm planning to install Teradici Management Console (TMC) and VMware View 5 Server (Connection Broker: CB) on ESXi Server in our Windows Domain network.
4 Zero Clients (Wyse P25) will be accessing 8 Hosts through TMC and CB via PCoIP connection.
Of course these hosts will have PCoIP hosts card installed.
What I need to achieve is to allow Zero Client to dynamically access Hosts.
Some users may access all 8 hosts, while other users may access only 1 or 2 hosts.
I understand this is possible through CB, who will be authenticating with Active Directory server.
My question : Does the VMware View Agent need to be installed on each host?
What does this agent for exactly? Only for USB virtualization?
If it's only for USB virtualization, and if we don't need to virtualize USB, then can we not install the agent on hosts and still
achieve above mentioned dynamic access to hosts?
I have some special software installed on each host and want to avoid installing any unnecessary extra software.
If anyone has experience with this setup, please let me know.
Or if anyone can suggest any other alternative solution, that will also be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Kennyk14
Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
You could use this issue as a means to get the environment setup the correct way. As it stands now you can't ever recompose without losing everything which is really defeating the flexibility and storage savings associated with linked clones. Good luck
Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
I've seen it argued that due to the lower cost of storage these days it can be better to simply manage linked clone desktops like you would a physical desktop. The effort it can take to keep up with all the various apps you'd need to virtualize and re-virtualize when updates come for the various needs of users is actually a less efficient use of resources. Much easier to simply let users install their own software by packages that have already been build for the physical environment.
Obviously this can vary as every environment has different needs, but we are a school district and there are many different departments that use many different pieces of software that change as fast as the weather.
That being said I am looking to move general users over to a non-persistent environment. These are the users who generally use our VDI for access to resources from home, on their iPads, or laptops. It makes sense to have these users non-persistent since they mostly use general apps anyway. Plus we want to be able to open this access up to more people using less resources. But for our users who use our VDI as their primary desktop, I believe sacrificing storage is the way to go instead of micromanaging their software. I know there are some districts who only allow teachers and staff to install official district software anyway so maybe that would work for them. We, however, allow staff to install any software they feel they need.
Thank you for the idea, I just wanted to share my thoughts on that general topic and why we have been using persistent desktops.
Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
I don't disagree that there is simplicity in following that model, however if you aren't going to take advantage of the linked clone technology you would be better off just deploying a full desktop in View.
Re: Teradici Management Console + VMware View 5 as Connection broker
What operating system are the hosts running?
// Linjo
Re: P25 Grey Screen
Have you tired moving the monitor to the other display port to see if you get more than just a grey screen? I've seen monitors get swapped on my EVGA clients, and you get a grey screen if it's displaying the secondary monitor instead of the primary.
The other option is to either use the PCoIP management console to reset it, or connect directly to the P25 IP address with a browser and change/reset settings from there.

Re: Changing Replica Path for Linked Clones After Changing "Seperate Datastores for Replica and OS" Setting in View Admin
Well I figure there is still a huge savings in space because 80% or more of the software is in the parent image still. When major updates come that would take up a lot of space, then we recompose. Which is really the same thing we do on physical stations around every other year. So there is still great potential of space savings with linked clones even if you plan on keeping them persistent (or I guess you consider that semi-persistent?)
Thanks for your input.
"Another task is already in progress" on Refresh (VM Not Stuck) - View 5.3.1
I know there have been a couple semi-recent topics like this but their issues did not sound the same as mine so I'm starting a new topic.
ESXi 5.5.0-1623387
Horizon View 5.3.1
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64 and 32 bit
Each evening via PowerCLI I set some of our pools to refresh. Almost every night at least one pool has a VM that gets the error "Another task is already in progress" which halts the entire task. I have the pools set to not auto recover of failure because for our own reasons the MAC addresses cannot change so I can't have it auto deleting desktops to recover.
Upon resuming the task generally all VMs complete successfully. Even the one that had the error.
When I look at what was going on during that time, I don't see any other tasks showing up that should have preventing the VM from refreshing. See screenshots from one such VM...
As you can see it failed at 7:40 and then at 10:22 after I resumed the task it went through fine. This took not intervention on my part other than resuming the task. The VM was not stuck in some way.
Events for the VM around the time of both the failed and working refresh are seen above. I include the last days date so you know I wasn't leaving something out.
I haven't done a lot of research on this yet, but I did try updating the APEX cards to 2.4.0 since it was most often occurring on a pool that runs on hosts with the APEX cards and because I saw another thread where people were discussing it as a possible culprit. But it is still occurring and it may only be occurring on the pool mentioned because it is our largest pool of desktops. Last night it happened on 3 different pools and 2 of those did not have APEX cards.
I also changed the Blackout Times for Storage Accelerator regeneration on the pools with the issue so that it would not be occurring at the same time the refreshes were running. Didn't make a difference. We are not doing Space Reclamation at this time.
Anybody have any ideas? A path to investigate?
Thanks!

Re: Permissions on persona manager share are REMOVED on user logout.
I believe this is happening because Microsoft is resetting the permissions on the folder. In the shipping versions of Persona, Microsoft creates the roaming profile folder, so Persona plays no part in that or configuring the security on the folder. That's all handled via Microsoft and inheritance rules on the CPS based on the security requirements we have documented in the View Admin Guide. You could certainly verify that it's Microsoft doing this with Procmon.
I will give this a try myself and see if there is anything I can come up with to help.
Thanks,
Erik
Re: Upgrading VMware View Agent from 5.2 to 5.3 causes agent to become unreachable in Horizon Administrator.
I was able to fix this by removing it from the pool, then adding it back, and then restarting the agent service. It sometimes took two restarts but it got me going.
Re: Problem with cloning master image for linked clones after v5.1 update
I'm having the same problem. We use View Composer 5.3.0 and I was trying to deploy a rather large VM. At first I was getting the "VC operation exceeded the task timeout limit set by View Composer" error, so I followed the instructions in KB2030047 and increased the timeout limit in the SviWebService.exe.config file. I set the value to 240 minutes. However, now I started to receive a different error during provisioning: "View Composer failed to complete progress polling when creating a new View desktop". There is VMware article on this - KB2047371 - but the resolution here had nothing to do with my issue. Judging by the community rating on the resolution, this was the same for most other people with the same issue. The weird thing about the error is that the virtual machine is still being provisioned in vCenter, but View Composer cannot see it anymore. The status is "error(missing)" and after the provisioning process finally completes I cannot perform any further action on it through the Composer admin console. Basically View Composer seems to give up on the provisioning process long before it's completed.
Anyway, I finally stumbled on this forum post and after reading about the 90 minute hard limit on timeouts I found that I was also receiving this error message after exactly 90 minutes every time. Unfortunately, I have no resolution for the issue. I just wanted to write this post to hopefully draw other people with the same error message here, since it took me a long time on Google to find out about the 90 minute limit.
Thanks!
