It is an automated pool with persistent desktops (if that makes any difference), and is using the Customization Specification from within vSphere, not a sysprep script.
Yes, using the same customisation option on a standalone deployment works, and I can log in to the VM on the domain, but then it reboots and is then in a workgroup. It either doesn’t work at all when deployed to the pool, or it does the same thing ‘in the background’ and I don’t see it happen in time.
