Dear Community,
In our case we are looking for a good alternative to Oracle SGD and thought with View we were at the right place...
But after evaluating View in Version 5.2 (by using Security Server in DMZ, Composer and linked-clones) my conclusion is:
It seems to be great solution for virtualizing desktops, but not (hopefully YET) for managing terminalservers.
Why we think View is not yet ready for managing terminalservers:
- No HTML access for terminalservers
- No PCoIP for terminalservers
- No Windows Server 2012
- Printing on terminlservers managed by View is not usable without having additional ThinPrint engines and licenses
- only single servers can be published, it seems to not be possible to have multiple servers published by assigning them to single or multiple user-groups.
- by accessing single systems through Horizon Workspace there is no printing and audio support
Yes we found some other good articles about how to use PCoIP and HTML access for Terminalservers anyway and also how to get Windows 2012 working together with View, but as long as these are all unsupported and unofficial solutions, it will be of course not a choice for us to go into production that way.
As we know VMware products since a long time often there are big steps between their releases.
And therefore maybe the one or other has already some more information regarding the next version of View, especially in regards of the use of terminalservers?
Every hint/Input would be welcome...
Also if one has maybe another point of view or experiences regarding the use of MS TerminalServers (2008, 2012) together with View?
Thank you and regards,
thodie
