We have esxi 5.5, horizion view 5.3, nvidia grid k2. Latest grid drivers, vmware tools, view agent.
I am getting an error with all directx 10 programs. directx 11 works and 9 works... basically it says there is no direct x 10 compatible gpu.
Is this something system wide or just me?

I originally upgraded the agent, but have since manually uninstalled it, rebooted and reinstalled. Still no success. I have also tried a test pool without ThinApps as you suggested, but even though it seems to result in fewer crashes, the service still crashes on most of the log on attempts.
I have since my original post also tried with a new clean Windows 7 image. I have added all the ThinApps to this test pool, and put the vm's in the same OU so the same polices get applied. On this pool the View Persona service does not crash. So there must be something on my original template that causes View Persona 5.3 to crash...
Just another question then,
are the persona management ADM(X?) templates being pushed from a domain controller or local? There were updated ones that came out with the new release.
If they are being pushed via GPO, is the new "test" win7 image receiving the same group policies?
View Persona is controlled by AD, and both the original vm's and the test vm's are placed under the same OU. I have used the classic adm templates, but I have not replaced them with the new ones...
It might be worth a test. I tested it out in my environment with a linked clone, dedicated pool with persistent disk provisioned on local storage. I was able to move it over to another server with local storage. It wasn't exactly seamless but I got it to work.

We're trying to confirm if we could add extra screens to our Wyse P20 clients, so they have 2x native screens + 1 or 2 USB to DVI/VGA adapters for a total of 3 or 4 screens. We have successfully setup a bunch of regular desktops with View installed and running 4 screens (using 2x dual head video cards, PCI/PCIe), no issues there, all good.
Has anyone successfully implemented this? We plan on getting USB video adapters from ebay to contain costs, here is an example of what we may get (it will have to support 1920x1080 + Win7) :

The P20 is a zero client, and does not have support for USB video adapters. You would have to buy Wyse P45 or similar instead.
So DX11 works and DX10 does not work?
Have you installed the DirectX10 redistributable?
Are you using vSGA or vDGA?
Hi, does anybody know how i can invoke a Web Request to the View Connection Server to view if a connection exists? We know how to get the session information through powershell we would like to make a web request call from our Stingray device to see if a session already exists in that POD?

Presumably this is a VM that is not managed by a View Connection Server? You should be able to set/change the following registry setting (this would automatically be updated if you were using a CS):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM\Node Manager\DisconnectLimitMinutes
A value of -1 means immediately, a value of 0 means never. Positive values are the number of minutes to wait after the disconnect occurs.

You could use folder redirection without persona management but then your users would have to use a local profile which would force you into a persistent pool model. If you would to use linked clones in a floating pool configuration then you would want persona or some other third party profile tool.

I don't know if anyone from VMware is ever going to read this but, there should be a little GUI as part of the install of the Direct-Connect Plug-in to help find and set these values since you no longer need a Connection Server.

We are tracking this, though the solution will probably not be the installer as different pools can use the same template. We've still got a little bit of work to do to know how best to handle configuration options for features that were originally only controlled by the View Connection Server. Obviously some functionality is not possible without a CS of some description, but functionality that is entirely in-guest and performed by the agent (such as logoff after disconnect) can still be enabled. Watch this space.
so Persona should not be crashing. So there is something obviously wrong here.
If Persona does crash, it writes out a dump file which we can then use to analyse what went wrong. If you are willing, can you find it and get that file to me?

I have tried unsuccessfully at upgrading from 5.2 to 5.3. The install works fine. But after I am unable to connect to the connection server that was upgraded. I get " View Connection Server Communication Error"
I am also not able to connect to the admin console on the connection server that was updated.
I have tried twice to upgrade from View 5.2 to 5.3 and both times I ran into the same issue.
The install seems to work fine, but Once I try to connect to the updated Connection server I get the following error:
View Connection Server Communication Error
I also tried to open the admin console from this same updated connection server and I was unable to get that to open.
Has anyone tried this upgrade? Does anyone have any ideas as to why I am seeing this issue?
I have a issue opened with VMware but so far they haven't been able to point me in the right direction.

In some pools we use Persona and folder redirection and others we have setup using Unidesk. In the past we have used persistent disk and they worked great well too.

Have you reviewed the logs and event viewer? If so does anything stand out? Is this a single Connection broker or is it part of a replica group?
